Tree Swallows

Poor swallows, they were to late for a ready made house, they will have to keep looking.

Now I know to be expecting the tree swallows here! We've got three nest boxes ready for them. Last year we had violet-green swallows nesting here too. It's quite an exciting time.

Beautiful shade of blue in the swallows and love the colors and textures in the tree stump. This was a pleasure viewing.

Good to see the two swallows!

Was looking at my wildlife journal to see when I first noticed and made a note that the swallows had arrived here, up near the Canada border, in past years. The earliest was in 1997 on March 12. March 13 in 2002. March 18 in 1994. March 27 in 1992. March 30 in 2004. April 1 in 1996. April 3 in 1995. It's a turning point when the swallows arrive.

Great photo - delicious blue color and great textures from the softness of their feathery breasts to the rough algae-riddled wood.

I love this photo! We don't have tree swallows either - in fact we seem to have fewer swallows each year.
