Yes this picture was taken in the summer. I wanted to use it to brag about my three owl week. I heard and talked to a male Great-Horned Owl, and heard a Barn Owl at the same time. Then a few nights later a Barred Owl woke me up with his Hoo-aw call, a call a pair will hoot for long-distance communication. Even though we are in the middle of winter, these birds are getting ready to nest and breed. What a thrill!

I love owls but have rarely heard them. Thanks for sharing this photo and your story of the 3 owl week :)
Rhonda
thank you Rhonda and IR! glad you like the owl pic, he was being mobbed somthing awful in our yard a few years ago. Keep your ears open ladies, the owls are a calling.
How did I miss this owl photo? I never get to see or hear owls, and it's a true goal of mine to do so. What a beautiful creature.
good luck Robin, they do keep rather late hours so sometimes it is hard catching them.
